![]() Development leaders need to buy into and accept the architecture, to know how the pieces will fit together at a high level. The final component to the role of solution architect is the motivation and guidance of the development leads. Reviewing the pattern allows the architect to refresh their memory on the details of the pattern and to evaluate what additional guidance they will have to provide if they choose to use the pattern. Patterns are released through research and can come from places such as Microsoft’s software development libraries. Patterns are previously described and validated approaches that can be used to create portions of the solution. In addition to research on technologies and approaches critical to the architecture, there is often a review of patterns that might be useful to the architecture. This process can either be done alone or depending upon the size and velocity of the project can be delegated to a development lead. For instance, the SA may test to see if USB or serial port access is available from Java if there’s a need to read a device without downloading software. The research may be targeted at testing a technology that will become critical to the architecture. For instance, there is often a fair amount of research that happens during this phase. In the process of converting requirements to an architecture there are often parts of the SA’s role which seem out of place. Creating effective architectures to create a solution requires the careful balance of dozens of development concepts ranging from “Keep it Simple Stupid” to “Fail to Safe”. Just as the ability of the Functional Analyst to create a requirements document is one part science and wrote procedure so is the creation of the architecture. It is this conversion part of the role – the role of the SA -that most often is underestimated in its complexity. This conversion is based largely upon the previous design patterns that the SA has been involved with in the past through reading and staying abreast of the latest techniques, or through personal experience. The essence of the Solution Architect (SA) role is the conversion of the requirements into an architecture and design that will become the blueprint for the solution being created. They then remain involved throughout the balance of the project.Ĭlick hereto see how the SA fits within the full organizational chart. The Solution Architect becomes involved with a project at the time the Functional Analyst (FA) is developing requirements. They are responsible for the vision that underlies the solution and the execution of that vision into the solution. ![]() ![]() The Solution Architect is the person who organizes the development effort. Thank you so much for sharing insider info on that area. Just be aware of traffic issues, especially in Gruene and near the river in N.B.įascinating read, bikespaces. Twenty miles is the furthest you’ll drive, probably round trip. They’re nowhere near the river (New Braunfels’ biggest attraction), they’re not near Schlitterbahn (a private river park attraction), and they are too far from Gruene to ever walk, but the privacy and the ‘tiny’ factor is worth something. After all, a standard hotel room down here (N.B.) is approaching $100 during the season. I’ve not been to the B&B that is in front of this tiny house, but I’d say the rates are high but not totally out of hand. My point is, if you want to stay in Gruene, you want to stay *in* Gruene, so you can park and walk, instead of dealing with traffic. What with the river, the dance hall, the general store and the grist mill, there’s nowhere to widen the road. Since there is only one winding country road into, through, and out of town, which was never meant to handle more than about six horse carriages on Sundays, the traffic is horrific on weekends (it was not great even in the 90’s but now it’s impossible). In the nineties it was charming, but the locals figured out that if they dragged in old homes from other places and rehabbed ’em, they could make a fortune renting ’em to the rubes–I mean, tourists. I don’t remember where the drop off is for toobing, but it does *not* run right past the grist mill or through the center of Gruene. Of course, being an old grist mill, the view of the river is spectacular. It also has a two story general store (if I remember right it has the old tin ceilings), an ice cream parlor, and an old grist mill that has been turned into a restaurant. Kids play on the tire swings and trees out back while the adults socialize at the picnic tables (no, really, they actually talk to each other!). It has no a/c, wood floors, and screens and wooden shutters for windows (no glass). They have had some of the biggest names in music play there live. As noted above, it has the oldest dance hall in Texas, which is packed full on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. Gruene is strictly a tourist town, and the rates reflect it. ![]() Subterranean air ducts that mitigate mechanical noise from the climate control system also work passively, in conjunction with an operable skylight at the top of the silo cone, to deliver passive cooling throughout the space. This is in New Braunfels, not in Gruene proper. This approach maximizes construction efficiency, usable space, and the perception of interior volume. Spaciousness and simplicity are achieved by accommodating all functions for living in a two-story walnut and black steel volume that nexts within the silo's southern perimeter. With an 18-foot diameter and 360 square-feet of total livable space, a central design challenge was attaining a sense of 'home' within a shape and size foreign to common perceptions of domesticity.
